Retail & Store Manager, Retail Sales
Overview
Entry‑level sales and store driver roles supporting DIY business and commercial parts delivery at Advance Auto Parts. Positions may be full‑time or part‑time and require fleet safety certification. The role blends customer service, inventory management, and parts delivery in a retail environment.
Primary Responsibilities- Provide excellent selling experience for DIY customer visits and phone calls.
- Achieve personal sales goals and support store sales objectives.
- Offer DIY services including battery installation, testing, wiper blade installation, and other basic automotive repairs.
- Maintain store product and operational standards, including inventory procedures such as truck put‑away, shoot‑outs, and cycle counts.
- Safely deliver parts to customers, pick and stage parts for orders, handle returns, and complete routine credit account collections.
- Maintain store cleanliness: floors, bathrooms, displays, dusting, and parking lot.
- General stocking tasks: truck stocking, back‑stock organization.
- Basic driving and navigation skills.
- Comfortable using delivery board systems.
- Strong customer communication and friendly service.
- Ability to locate, stock, and handle parts safely.
- Proficient in operating inventory systems, POS, parts lookup systems, and diagnostic equipment.
Job Skills
- Speak and write English (Spanish a plus); communicate effectively with customers, peers, and management.
- Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, parts catalogs, and procedure manuals.
- Use basic math accurately: add, subtract, multiply, divide in all units of measure (whole numbers, fractions, decimals).
- Work an assortment of days, evenings, and weekends as needed.
- 2–3 years of successful sales experience in a diverse retail environment, providing superior customer experiences.
- Automotive parts experience preferred; valid driver’s license and fleet safety certification required.
Predominantly walking or standing; may lift or move up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds occasionally. Requires reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and handling objects with hands and fingers. Vision requirements: close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, focus adjustment.
Work EnvironmentMostly indoor with occasional outdoor exposure to weather. May encounter moving mechanical parts, high or precarious places, toxic or caustic chemicals, electrical shock, explosives, vibration. Noise level usually moderate.
