Job Summary

Cornwall IT Services (CITS) manages the county-wide IT infrastructure, data, and voice services for the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly NHS community. CITS is recruiting an IT Customer Support Engineer to join the Unified Communications (UC) team, providing day-to-day remote support for the communications infrastructure.

Main Duties

• Unboxing, configuration, and commissioning of new networking equipment.
• Physical installation of wireless access points, including installation of over 1,000 APs across Treliske campus.
• Disposal and safe removal of decommissioned equipment.
• Work under supervision of team leader, with occasional independent work.
• Use of step ladders and other mechanical aids as required.

Salary: £24,465 a year pro rata (Band

Responsibilities

• Assist the UC team leader and engineers in supporting the technical infrastructure of the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly NHS communities.
• Configure equipment under direction, install wireless access points, and other hardware around Treliske campus.
• Collaborate with team members; occasionally work independently without supervision.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential: IT qualification or equivalent experience.

Basic knowledge of PCs, mobile devices, email, Office software, and software installation.

Awareness of the Data Protection Act.

Desirable: ECDL qualification, ITIL qualification, NHS experience.

Practical Skills

• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Team player with flexibility in working hours and commitments.
• Physical ability to lift and move moderately heavy equipment.
• Dexterity to fit and update internal components of IT hardware.

Training & Development

• Evidence of continuing professional development.
• Willingness to undertake required training, including NHS mandatory courses.
