Children's Community Nurse – Band 6
Permanent contract at Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, Truro Health Park.
Band 6, 37.5 hours per week, 4 days per week, full time or part‑time possible. Weekend and bank holiday working required. End of Life care on call.
Salary: £38,682 – £46,580 per annum (pro rata).
Job OverviewExperienced Children's Nurse needed for a 7‑day service expanding to 4 days per week.
Main Duties- Provide acute care for unwell children, using advanced clinical assessment skills.
- Plan, coordinate, deliver and evaluate care for a caseload of children and young people with complex health needs.
- Reduce unnecessary hospital admissions and length of stay by facilitating early discharge from the acute trust.
- Support children and young people with long‑term or palliative conditions.
- Work independently under pressure and communicate effectively with families and multi‑professional teams.
- Manage end‑of‑life care, including on‑call provision.
- Current NMC registration.
- RN Child or RSCN professional qualification.
- Diploma level specialist training or equivalent relevant experience.
- Desirable:
Teaching or mentoring qualification, non‑medical prescriber.
Essential Criteria
- Specialist knowledge and advanced clinical skills working with children with complex health needs (IV, sub‑cut, enteral feeding, tracheostomy care, technical equipment).
- Caseload management.
- Support/supervise team members and students.
- Deliver training to NHS and non‑NHS staff, patients and families.
- In‑depth knowledge of children’s community nursing issues.
- Post‑registration experience with children who have learning disability, complex or palliative needs.
- Previous community setting experience.
- Experience in end‑of‑life care.
- Competent IT skills.
- Apply best practice in complex and challenging situations.
- Working knowledge of CQC standards for care delivery.
- Desirable:
Audit skills.
