Accounts Manager - Truro/Hybrid

A long-established engineering and manufacturing business in Cornwall is looking for a confident and self-sufficient Accounts Manager to take ownership of its UK finance function. You’ll be the sole finance professional on-site, working closely with a supportive manager based overseas. This role suits someone who enjoys variety, likes being trusted to run things well, and can manage their own workload with minimal supervision.
Keyresponsibilities will include:
- Lead the UK month-end close and produce accurate financial statements
- Manage AP, AR, inventory, general ledger and tax requirements
- Maintain daily cash flow and strong financial controls
- Oversee standard costing, variance analysis and inventory valuation
- Handle day-to-day finance activities: ledgers, cashbooks, reconciliations, remittances, supplier payments and credit control
- Support budgeting, forecasting, KPIs and ad-hoc analysis
- Prepare journals, accruals, prepayments and depreciation
- Support internal and external audits
- Maintain and improve finance processes for consistency and efficiency
You’ll bring strong accounting knowledge, solid Excel ability, good organisation, and the confidence to work independently while building positive relationships across the business. Experience with costing or manufacturing is an advantage but not essential.
