Locum Consultant Neuropsychiatrist - Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust
We are seeking a Locum Consultant Neuropsychiatrist to join our Learning Disability Service in Cornwall.
This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to specialist care for people with intellectual disabilities (PwID), focusing on epilepsy management and clinical leadership.
- Provide 1 PA of consultant-level support to the East Cornwall Learning Disability team, covering epilepsy care for PwID in North Cornwall alongside the Neurologist.
- Deliver 1 PA (primarily remote) to the AIST service
, offering mentorship to the full-time Specialty Doctor and clinical-operational leadership. - Participate in multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings, peer reviews, and collaborative working across community and specialist LD teams.
- Engage in CPD and administrative duties in line with Royal College of Psychiatrists standards

- Provide specialist medical and psychiatric input to the Intellectual Disabilities Service, including advice to multidisciplinary teams and consultant colleagues.
- Support epilepsy care for people with intellectual disabilities in North Cornwall, working alongside the Neurologist to bring a psychiatric perspective.
- Deliver consultant-level clinical and operational leadership for the AIST service and mentorship for the Specialty Doctor.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings, peer reviews, and service planning activities.
- Offer professional supervision, appraisal, and competency assessment for junior medical staff in line with Trust policies.
- Maintain accurate clinical records and undertake administrative duties associated with patient care.
- Engage in Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and attend the Trust's academic programme.
- Comply with GMC registration requirements and participate in annual job planning and appraisal.
- Work collaboratively with managers and colleagues to ensure efficient service delivery and contribute to financial and business planning.
- Represent the Trust in regional and national groups where appropriate.

Person Specification Skills and Aptitude- Experience of assessing and treating patients with mental health concerns and/or with intellectual disabilities
- Able to meet duties under MHA and MCA
- Ability to manage own time, workload and prioritise clinical work.
- Wide range of specialist and sub-specialist experience relevant to post within NHS or comparable service
- Evidence of specific achievements that demonstrated by MDT skills
- Recognised basic Medical Degree
- MRCPsych, CCT or equivalent in Psychiatry
