Scope

The Principal Demand Planner is responsible for all U.S. demand‑planning activities for the Cooper Surgical business unit, which serves 2 500 active products and generates annual revenue exceeding $500 M.

Job Summary

The Principal Demand Planner develops a high‑quality, unconstrained consensus demand plan and manages processes that continually refine the demand forecast. This role is a key contributor to the monthly Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) and Sales and Operations Execution (S&OE) processes, ensuring that demand signals are accurate over a 24‑month horizon and aligning plans across stakeholders and data inputs to deliver customer satisfaction at an optimized cost.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure appropriate process structure, inputs, outputs, reviews, and cadence of demand planning globally to deliver company demand plans on a monthly cycle.
  • Achieve assigned KPIs including forecast accuracy, forecast bias, and line‑fill performance.
  • Prioritize work within the portfolio to maximize impact, reducing cost or improving customer satisfaction.
  • Drive engagement and participation of consensus demand reviews and other S&OP meetings, including consolidation and distribution of presentation materials, key decisions, demand‑plan publishing, and meeting notes/action items.
  • Align product‑management and supply‑chain stakeholders for successful new‑product introduction and phase‑out of discontinued products.
  • Partner with finance to ensure quality financial forecasts, including average selling price, mix, and margin to meet monthly financial realization.
Travel

Domestic and international travel may be required, not to exceed 10%.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to communicate with both technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Strong business acumen and problem‑solving capabilities with direct experience in supply‑chain planning.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with commercial and marketing teams.
  • Understanding of end‑to‑end planning and supply‑chain management.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Experience:

  • 5+ years of supply‑chain management experience with specific demand‑planning or business‑forecasting experience in the medical device, biotechnology, or pharma industry.
  • 2+ years of experience leading teams.
  • Advanced planning‑tool experience and/or implementation (e.g., O9, Kinaxis Rapid Response, APO).
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills with proficiency in Excel for complex modeling.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, supply‑chain management, or a related field.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • APICS or similar professional accreditation preferred.
Work Environment
  • Prolonged sitting in front of a computer.
  • Mix of face‑to‑face and virtual meetings.
