This position is best suited for individuals who enjoy interacting with people. Helping people and answering their questions is the name of this game! Strong customer service skills are vital in this position as there is a lot of interaction with customers who need our help connecting with the services to best serve them.
The Human Services Screener is a specialized clerical classification. Under limited supervision, this classification supports customers with public assistance programs and applications, explains policies and procedures, gathers and verifies facts and information, initiates cases through an automated system, and makes appropriate referrals for health, social and/or employment services.
Responsibilities- Explains policies, procedures, and requirements to applicants to inform them of their rights and responsibilities.
- Performs initial application interview for public assistance programs and services.
- Ensures accuracy and completion of application and declaration forms.
Knowledge of modern office practices is key. Skills needed for this position include, but are not limited to:

Graduation from High School or GED plus two (2) years of full-time experience performing increasingly complex clerical office support duties comparable to the Office Assistant II classification for Nevada County. One year of experience at the Senior Office Assistant level is preferred. Experience must have included substantial public contact.
