Position: Ice Cream Maker - Lead (Full Time or Part Time)

Job Summary

We are seeking a passionate and skilled Ice Cream Maker and Baker to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for creating delicious ice cream flavors and ensuring high-quality standards in food preparation. The ideal candidate will have a background in the food industry, with experience in food production and customer service. As a lead Ice Cream Maker, you will produce Ice Cream and each flavor's inclusions such as cookies, brownies, sauces and candies. This position is based at our Donner Lake Commercial Kitchen in Truckee, CA. This location supplies all of our locations, including Donner Lake, Downtown Truckee, Tahoe City. Beyond Ice Cream production, you will be responsible for kitchen processes, supplies and inventory.

You will support the current flavors list and build on the offerings through exploration and creation of new flavors and supporting recipes. You will oversee all kitchen operations in order to meet ice cream demand for each location, including tubs for our retail locations as well as pinted ice cream, ice cream cakes and other ice cream production needs. You are responsible for monitoring inventory to assure we have proper stock.

You will keep the kitchen clean and organized. You will work closely with assistant kitchen staff during peak season who will assist with production, inventory and all other kitchen needs.

Hours and Shifts

15-30 hours a week during fall and winter with full time hours available for a candidate who is willing to work the service counter.

35-40 hours a week during the summer.

This current position is year round starting part time during the winter with optional service hours for those who want to make it a full time position. Kitchen hours are very flexible during the winter and become more scheduled during the spring and summer.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and mix ingredients to create our diverse list of Ice Cream flavors.
  • Operate ice cream machines and other kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Ensure all food handling procedures are followed to maintain hygiene and safety standards.
  • Package finished products for sale, ensuring proper labeling and presentation.
  • Assist in cake decorating as needed for special orders or events.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to health regulations.
  • Provide excellent customer service by engaging with customers and assisting them with their selections.
  • Collaborate with team members to develop new flavors and improve existing recipes.
Requirements
  • Previous experience in food preparation or culinary roles is preferred.
  • Knowledge of food handling practices and safety regulations.
  • Familiarity with the food industry, particularly in production settings.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow recipes accurately.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Experience in cake decorating is a plus but not required.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods and lift moderate weights as needed.
  • Ability to create tracking criteria for supplies and ingredient needs and ordering.
  • Ability to keep the kitchen and storage areas clean and organized.
  • Ability to Interview, management, train and collaborate with staff.
  • Self motivated, organized and clean.
  • Be able to work alone or with others.
  • Be punctual and show up to work as scheduled.
  • Willing to work Independently and alone at times
Pay

Training wage is $19 hour. Once not needing regular supervision, wage increases to $22+ addition .50 cent per hour as an employee card to use for friends and family for any products we sell. Generous Employer Funded Retirement (up to 25% wage) after 3rd year.
