Placer County is currently recruiting for the position of Engineering Manager – Tahoe Engineering Division.
This is a leadership position in the Department of Public Works responsible for managing an engineering team dedicated to delivering important stormwater, environmental, recreation, infrastructure, and transportation projects in the Tahoe area. The East Placer region is an exciting and dynamic work environment. The ideal candidate for this position will rely on strong communication skills to foster and maintain effective working relationships with multiple Tahoe area regional partners, agencies, community groups, business owners, residents, and interested parties, as well as multiple County departments and divisions to advance Placer County and Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (TRPA) regional programs and projects.
The ideal candidate possesses experience in a diversity of fields including stormwater, environmental, recreation, infrastructure, and transportation through designing, permitting, and delivering various improvement projects from traditional roadway operational improvements (signals, roundabouts, widening, etc.) to recreational infrastructure including multimodal pedestrian and bicycle path facilities, as well as transit facilities such as bus shelters, transit/mobility hubs to stormwater capture and treatment units.
Previous experience in obtaining and utilizing a variety of federal, state, and local funding sources to plan, design, and construct improvement projects is desirable.
This position receives policy direction from the Director and Deputy Director.
This position is eligible for an additional $1,100 per month Tahoe Branch Assignment Premium.

Minimum qualifications include five years of increasingly responsible experience as a registered professional engineer in the required specialty field, including two years of administrative and supervisory responsibility, the equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in civil engineering or a related field, and possession of a Certificate of Registration as a Professional Engineer in an appropriate discipline as issued by the State of California.
