Position Summary
Patient Access Specialist responsible for the financial counseling, collecting co‑pays and deductibles, and providing financial assistance education to patients and their families. They perform stat registering, scheduling appointments, and completion of registration by collecting and entering all pertinent financial and demographic information into the ADT system. They verify insurance benefit information, generate the ABN, review orders for compliancy, complete MSP, obtain financial and treatment consents, place ordered medical procedures, and obtain pre‑certification when applicable while maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements.
Shift & SchedulePart Time – Primarily 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM
Varied, Flex, Float – Includes Weekends & Holidays
40 Hours Per Pay Period

- Demonstrates expert Functional/Technical skills while providing financial assessment and evaluation of each patient entering the hospital. Understands the hospital’s financial policies and applies them to secure payment for patient’s liability.
- Maintain excellent customer service standards at all times and communicate effectively with physicians, physician offices, patients, and co‑workers.
- Stat registering, scheduling appointments, completion of registration by collecting and entering all pertinent financial and demographic information into the ADT system.
- Verifying insurance benefit information and generation of the ABN.
- Reviewing orders for compliance and completion of MSP.
- Obtaining financial and treatment consents, placing ordered medical procedures.
- Obtaining pre‑certification when applicable while maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements.
- High School completion / GED (Minimum)
- Associate’s Degree preferred in healthcare or related business field.
- Proficient in Windows‑based computer technology; keyboarding and typing at least 25 wpm.
- Medical Terminology certification preferred.
- 1–3 years of job‑related experience (Minimum).
- Preferred:
Customer service, general clerical/office, hospital, medical office/clinic, or insurance company. Applicable class work may be substituted for previous work experience.
