About the Role
A growing engineering and manufacturing organization is seeking a Senior Compliance Engineer to ensure that electrical products meet UL certification requirements, with a particular emphasis on UL 2580 and related standards. This full-time position is based in Troy, Ohio, and offers a base salary of $100,000 or more, depending on experience. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in bringing new products to market and maintaining regulatory compliance for existing lines, working closely with global engineering, quality, and manufacturing teams.
Responsibilities- Ensure product compliance with UL, CE, FCC, and other applicable regulatory standards
- Conduct and oversee UL testing, audits, and documentation for certification
- Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and quality teams throughout the product development lifecycle
- Evaluate testing results and provide technical recommendations for compliance
- Submit product documentation to certification bodies and manage the approval process
- Maintain compliance for existing certified products, ensuring ongoing regulatory adherence
- Monitor changes in industry regulations and implement required updates
- Act as the primary liaison with regulatory agencies and testing laboratories
- Develop and maintain internal processes for regulatory compliance and safety standards
- Provide training and compliance guidance to internal engineering and product teams
- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE)
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in product compliance, testing, or regulatory engineering
- In-depth knowledge of UL standards, particularly UL 2580, and certification processes
- Experience with domestic and international standards, including CE, FCC, RoHS, and REACH
- Proficiency in compliance testing methodologies and risk assessment
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and technical documentation skills
- Strong interpersonal and cross-functional communication abilities
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or Masters degree in a relevant field
- Prior experience coordinating with international engineering teams
- Background in battery systems, power electronics, or energy storage technologies
- Familiarity with IEC standards and global regulatory frameworks
- Ability to lead continuous improvement in compliance practices and internal audits
