Retail & Store Manager
Supervises customer service associates and designated hitters. Responsible for managing the front‑end of the store and recommending overall operations of the Pharmacy and Retail Store. Supports the Store Manager in achieving company deliverables, works alternate schedules, and assumes all store responsibilities in the Store Manager’s absence. Ensures proper merchandising, protects store assets, and improves store sales and profitability.
Customer Experience- Engages customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
- Resolves customer complaints promptly and answers questions to ensure a positive experience.
- Models customer service best practices and provides coaching and training to improve service metrics.
- Supervises daily activities of store and team members, delegating tasks, opening/closing, approving time records, time‑off, and scheduling.
- Collaborates with external partners to support the store and seeks community outreach opportunities.
- Uses data, analysis, and team input to make fact‑based decisions and monitor impact.
- Manages cash controls, register counts, bank withdrawals, armored car pickups, safe deposits, and bookkeeping.
- Supervises front‑end and pharmacy inventory, conducts resets, samples, and price changes, and analyzes trends to create action plans.
- Implements operational feedback from the Store Manager and District Manager through delegation.
- Maintains cleanliness and repairs, manages emergency responses, and ensures safety for team members.
- Ensures team proficiency with all computer and technology systems.
- Complies with all company policies, regulations, and applicable laws for sale of alcohol, tobacco, fresh food, and pharmacy products.
- Independently analyzes financial data and creates action plans to meet business deliverables.
- Uses statements, KPIs, and other tools to drive solutions and store improvement.
- Supports Pharmacy during busy periods, including serving as a pharmacy technician when necessary.
- Leads and trains team members, providing mentoring and coaching for career development.
- Manages performance by setting goals, providing feedback, and recognizing achievements.
- Recruits, retains talent, builds a diverse pipeline, and participates in hiring decisions.
- Ensures proper procedures for selection, recruitment, record retention, and training.
- Creates a culture of accountability through clear expectations and disciplinary processes.
- Completes Store Manager learning and development program and mandatory courses.
- Monitors personal performance, seeks feedback, and maintains an Individual Development Plan.
- Obtains and maintains a valid pharmacy technician license as required by state.
- Communicates regularly with team members through one‑on‑one and group meetings.
- Assists the Store Manager in planning and communicating company strategy.
- Either a bachelor’s degree with a solid academic record, completion of a Walgreens Community Internship Program, or a high school diploma/GED with two years of supervisory experience (direct reports not required).
- Demonstrated leadership, professional ethics, self‑motivation, strong communication, and business acumen.
- Completion of Store Manager training program (LEAP) or willingness to complete Walgreens Leadership Essentials training within 12 weeks of start date.
- Fl‑English: fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and extended days.
- Willingness to accept promotion into a Store Manager position if offered, potentially requiring relocation.
- Ability to transfer to other Walgreens retail assets within the same hiring area.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Internal candidates: management experience across front‑end and pharmacy.
- External candidates: business majors with prior retail or food industry experience.
