Use Your Lived Experience to Empower Others as a Peer Specialist
As a Peer Specialist, you’ll use your lived experience with behavioral health or substance use recovery to inspire hope, support growth, and walk alongside individuals as they build the life they want. You’ll be part of a compassionate, person‑centered team that values your voice and the power of shared experience.
Department: Adult CPRC
Location: Troy
Compensation: $19.00 / hour

Key Responsibilities- Share personal recovery experiences and model healthy coping strategies
- Support individuals in building confidence, resilience, and community connections
- Assist with goal‑setting and navigating treatment and support systems
- Help individuals recognize and build on their own strengths
- Participate as a valued member of the treatment team
- Provide transportation support when clinically indicated; driving is an essential function of this position
- Complete required state training, supervision, and certification processes (if not already certified)
- High School/GED required
- Must self‑identify as a current or former consumer of behavioral health, substance use, or co‑occurring disorder services
- Must complete a state‑approved training program, pass a standardized examination, complete certification process within 60 days of hire date, and maintain ongoing certification as a Certified Peer Specialist through the MCB (MO). Required only when applicable.
- A valid driver’s license and agency established minimum automobile coverage required
- Are in recovery and want to use your story to inspire others
- Understand the importance of peer connection, self‑determination, and community support
- Are empathetic, reliable, and able to build trusting relationships
- Communicate openly and respectfully with others from all walks of life
- Are excited to be part of a supportive clinical team
