Wastewater Maintenance Technician - Brownstown, MI
Base pay range: $44,400.00/yr - $58,240.00/yr
We are seeking a reliable and skilled Wastewater Maintenance Technician to join our team at South Huron Valley Utility Authority in Brownstown, MI. In this role, you'll read, interpret and work from blueprints, drawings, sketches, plans, specifications, and technical illustrations. You'll also perform skilled repair work on wastewater treatment plant equipment and instruments. You'll inspect, repair, and maintain electrical and/or electro‑mechanical operating and control systems, equipment, and fixtures.
Key Responsibilities- Inspect, maintain and repair wiring and lighting systems, electrical control equipment, meters, outlets, and panels
- Install new equipment, interpret oral and written instructions, specifications, wiring diagrams and codes
- Establish and maintain scheduled electrical maintenance program for the plant’s equipment
- Repair electrical and electronic instruments
- Analyze equipment failures to determine cause and prevent recurrences
- Maintain maintenance‑related recordkeeping and prepare routine and special reports
- Track and manage data using the computer maintenance management system (CMMS)
- Solve normal work problems under general supervision of Maintenance Manager, Project Manager, or Lead using standard and special electrical tools and equipment
- Prepare labor and material estimates
- Understand the mathematics of electricity and machines
- Provide on‑the‑job training to less experienced employees
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical and electrical machinery or equipment
- Lubricate equipment and check for malfunctions
- Replace bearings, packing, seals, shafts, sleeves, seats, or other components found in treatment plant equipment
- Maintain discipline and ensure proper procedures are followed
- Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted during the course of work
- Attain daily and punctual attendance at the office and/or job site or off‑site locations
- Be available on an on‑call basis for emergencies
- Travel between work locations as required
- Perform other related duties as assigned
- High School Diploma or a GED Certificate
- Two years’ experience in electrical and/or mechanical maintenance
- Valid State Driver’s License
- Trade school education with emphasis on electrical and mechanical equipment and metal fabrication
- Knowledge of construction, repair, and operation of engines, pumps, and other mechanical equipment related to water/wastewater treatment plant operations and safe work practices
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and computerized maintenance management systems
- OSHA electrical qualification
- Level 1 Maintenance Certification with CWEA/MWEA

The base salary range is $44,400.00 to $58,240.00; pay is determined hourly based on hours worked and factors such as job‑related skills, experience, and education.
