Overview

Corewell Health is pleased to announce our 2026
Summer Immersion Program for nursing students looking to enhance their academic knowledge and further develop their clinical skills through a hands‑on experience with a nurse preceptor.

• Duration:
  10‑week program beginning May 18, 2026
  , working three 12‑hour shifts per week (typically 7:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. or 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m.).
• Placements available at each of our eight hospital campuses in specialties such as Med/Surg, Progressive Care, Critical Care, and Emergency
  .
• Mandatory full‑time attendance commitment, including any enrichment sessions.

• Applications accepted through Friday, March 13, 2026 (please apply to all sites of interest to be considered).
• Orientation begins on May 18, 2026.
• Must be currently enrolled and attending a BSN or ADN program nationally accredited through either CCNE or ACEN.
• Must be graduating Fall/Winter 2026 or Spring 2027

• Under supervision of a Registered Nurse and following hospital policies and procedures, performs various nursing care tasks and treatments on assigned patients.
• Performs routine bedside nursing activities including bathing and personal grooming of patients; ambulating, moving and turning patients; assisting patients with bedpans or urinary devices; making patient beds and caring for personal property.
• Assists in performing additional nursing procedures such as catheterizations, suctioning, irrigating colostomies, applying restraints, giving enemas, douches and sitz baths or pericare.
• Takes vital signs and records intake and output.
• Applies and changes sterile and non‑sterile dressing using appropriate technique.
• Performs more complex nursing procedures and treatments after theoretical preparation and supervised clinical experience.
• Keeps professional nursing staff advised of current patient status as well as changes in patient condition as they occur.
• Performs assessments and documents accurate, complete and concise patient information on appropriate forms, including flow sheets, activity records, etc.
• Participates in nursing staff conferences, in‑services and educational opportunities.
• Ensures the optimum utilization of personnel, supplies and equipment.
• Provides copy of current school transcript to supervisor at the end of each marking period to confirm continued eligibility.
• Assists in admitting, transferring and discharging patients.
• Assists in pre‑operative and post‑operative care.

• Currently enrolled and attending an accredited school of registered nursing (BSN or ADN).
• Evidence of successful completion of adult medical‑surgical rotations (theory and clinical; transcripts must be provided at the time of hire).
• American Heart Association (AHA) BLS or American Red Cross (ARC) BLS, required and must be valid through July 2026.
