About The Unit

The Pre‑op and PACU at Troy Beaumont are a fast‑paced critical‑care unit that specializes in the preparation and recovery of patients undergoing surgical procedures. Our department has 3 pre‑op areas and 3 PACU areas, serving both outpatient and inpatient surgeries. Staff should be teamwork‑oriented and possess strong critical‑thinking, organizational, and decision‑making skills.

The RN, under the ANA scope of practice, applies the nursing process to provide professional nursing care by incorporating patient‑family centered care principles to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and discharge. The RN delivers quality patient care under the direction of the Nurse Leader according to Corewell Health policies and procedures and recognizes the impact of nursing care and patient/family partnerships on patient outcomes.

The RN partners with patients and families, utilizes their input and goals in planning the plan of care, develops teaching strategies, and documents education and learning in the health record.

• Associate’s in Nursing (required)
• Bachelor’s in Nursing (required within 5 years)
• MI Registered Nurse (RN) (required)
• AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) (required)
• AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) (required); PALS required within 6 months of hire
• Specialty certification highly recommended (within 2 years)
• 2 years of acute‑care RN experience (required)
• 2 years of RN experience in the PACU, ICU or PCU (preferred)
