Join Our Team: PACU RN (Per Diem / As Needed Fill-in) – Town Center Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC), Troy, MI. Elevate Your Nursing Career as a PACU RN at Town Center ASC. This is a Per Diem/As Needed fill-in role for an experienced PACU nurse who thrives in a clinical, precise, and compassionate environment within a modern Troy facility.

This position offers an opportunity to provide elite, specialty-focused care in a state-of-the-art center located at 130 Town Center, Suite 130, Troy, Michigan 48084.

  • Anticipated

    Hours:

    Approximately 12–15 hours per week of as-needed fill-in support.
  • No On-Call Requirements:
    Not an on-call position; coverage is during standard business hours.
  • Daytime

    Schedule:

    Shifts occur Monday through Friday with no nights, weekends, or holidays.

Your Impact in PACU & Pre-Op

As a Fill-in Member of Our Perioperative Team, you will deliver exceptional care during the most critical phases of the patient’s stay.

  • Clinical Coordination:
    Support Pre-op and PACU workflows, ensuring a safe environment that meets post-anesthesia standards of care.
  • Advanced Patient Assessment:
    Monitor and maintain patient status across systems to ensure a safe recovery.
  • Patient Advocacy &

    Education:

    Provide instructions and training to patients and families, ensuring confidence and care.
  • Infection Prevention:
    Implement interventions to protect patients from surgical site infections and maintain balance of vital functions.
  • Detailed Documentation:
    Maintain accurate nursing intervention and observation notes within the EMR system.
Qualifications
  • Education:

    Graduate from an accredited school of nursing (BSN preferred).
  • Licensure:
    Valid Michigan RN License.
  • Certifications:

    BLS and ACLS certifications required.
  • Experience:

    2 years of pre-operative or post-anesthesia experience is preferred.
  • Skills:

    Excellent verbal communication, high attention to detail, and commitment to HIPAA and safety protocols.
General Summary

The ASC Registered Nurse – PACU is an essential member of the health care team responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and coordinating care in the Ambulatory Surgery Center. The RN delivers high-quality patient care during the pre- and post-operative phases of the patient’s stay.

Essential Job Functions / Competencies
  • Plans and organizes the daily activities of the Pre-operative and PACU areas in accordance with directions from clinical leadership and center procedures.
  • Provides a safe environment by following post-anesthesia standards of care.
  • Communicates the patient’s status to the appropriate parties throughout the continuum of care.
  • Performs interventions to maintain patient status across genitourinary, gastrointestinal, musculoskeletal, endocrine, respiratory, cardiovascular, and neurological systems, as well as fluid, electrolyte, and acid-base balances.
  • Performs interventions to protect the patient from surgical site infection.
  • Assesses and provides appropriate instructions/education to patients and family throughout the perioperative process.
  • Reports and documents pertinent observations and nursing interventions.
  • Performs other position-related duties as assigned.
  • Adheres to ethical conduct and complies with all laws, regulations, and organizational policies, including HIPAA and annual compliance training.
Certifications, Licensures or Registry Requirements
  • RN license and state requirements.
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Delivers exceptional patient service in all interactions.
  • Knowledge of healthcare systems operations, including EMR.
  • HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality.
  • Adherence to health and safety policies of the organization.
Education Requirements
  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred.
Experience Requirements
  • 2 years of pre-operative/post-anesthesia experience preferred.
