Job Title

Experienced Civil Litigation Attorney

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Civil Litigation Attorney to handle a diverse caseload of civil matters from inception through resolution. The ideal candidate is a skilled advocate with strong legal judgment, excellent writing and oral advocacy skills, and the ability to manage cases independently while collaborating effectively with colleagues and clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a full civil litigation caseload, including medical malpractice, personal injury, product liability, or other civil claims
  • Conduct legal research and analysis
  • Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery requests, and responses
  • Take and defend depositions, including expert and fact witnesses
  • Represent clients in hearings and trials
  • Develop case strategy from pre-suit investigation through trial
  • Communicate regularly with clients regarding case status, risks, and outcomes
  • Ensure compliance with court rules, deadlines, and ethical obligations
  • Supervise and mentor paralegals, and support staff as appropriate
  • Maintain accurate time records and case documentation in accordance with firm policies
Qualifications
  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • Active license to practice law in good standing in Michigan
  • Minimum of 3+ years of civil litigation experience
  • Demonstrated experience handling cases independently
  • Strong legal writing, research, and analytical skills
  • Courtroom experience, including motion practice and evidentiary hearings
  • Ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines simultaneously
  • Excellent interpersonal and client-communication skills
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and sound judgment
Preferred Experience (Optional)
  • Trial experience as first or second chair
  • Experience in medical malpractice, personal injury or product liability litigation
  • Experience with e-discovery platforms and litigation technology
  • Prior experience supervising staff
Work Environment & Expectations

Fast‑paced, deadline‑driven law firm environment. Combination of independent work and team collaboration. Occasional travel for court appearances, depositions, or client meetings.
