Job Title
Experienced Civil Litigation Attorney
OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Civil Litigation Attorney to handle a diverse caseload of civil matters from inception through resolution. The ideal candidate is a skilled advocate with strong legal judgment, excellent writing and oral advocacy skills, and the ability to manage cases independently while collaborating effectively with colleagues and clients.
Key Responsibilities- Manage a full civil litigation caseload, including medical malpractice, personal injury, product liability, or other civil claims
- Conduct legal research and analysis
- Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery requests, and responses
- Take and defend depositions, including expert and fact witnesses
- Represent clients in hearings and trials
- Develop case strategy from pre-suit investigation through trial
- Communicate regularly with clients regarding case status, risks, and outcomes
- Ensure compliance with court rules, deadlines, and ethical obligations
- Supervise and mentor paralegals, and support staff as appropriate
- Maintain accurate time records and case documentation in accordance with firm policies
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
- Active license to practice law in good standing in Michigan
- Minimum of 3+ years of civil litigation experience
- Demonstrated experience handling cases independently
- Strong legal writing, research, and analytical skills
- Courtroom experience, including motion practice and evidentiary hearings
- Ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines simultaneously
- Excellent interpersonal and client-communication skills
- High level of professionalism, integrity, and sound judgment
- Trial experience as first or second chair
- Experience in medical malpractice, personal injury or product liability litigation
- Experience with e-discovery platforms and litigation technology
- Prior experience supervising staff
Fast‑paced, deadline‑driven law firm environment. Combination of independent work and team collaboration. Occasional travel for court appearances, depositions, or client meetings.
