About the Unit

4 South is a 35‑bed Progressive Care Unit. Our fast‑paced, encouraging environment provides care for a wide range of patient needs, including stroke, cardiac, and thoracic patients. We assess patients’ NIHSS scale and provide treatment and education per protocol, treating cardiac issues that may arise during their stay with medications and procedures. Vital signs are checked every four hours and hourly rounding is performed on every patient.

We collaborate closely with physical and occupational therapy to support patient recovery and educate both patients and their families on expectations after discharge.

Scope of Work

Provide patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse, following the plan of care, unit routine, and hospital policies. Safely transport patients via wheelchair or stretcher and document services in the electronic medical record. Serve as an observer for patients requiring constant observation, using remote video monitoring when applicable. Perform general receptionist and clerical duties to facilitate efficient functioning of the nursing unit.

Orientation

This position requires a full week of corporate orientation. The schedule is Monday‑Friday, 7 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. You will be required to attend the entire week consecutively.

Qualifications
  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Previous hospital or nursing home experience preferred
  • American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support required within 30 days of hire
  • Current CNA certification preferred
