Design Release Engineer – Electrical Distribution Systems (EDS)

Location: Troy, MI
Work Schedule: Hybrid (on site at new independent company, on location at customer vehicle plants, or remote as needed)

Pay Rate: Up to $45/hour, depending on experience and chosen benefits

We are seeking a Design Release Engineer (DRE) to support wiring assembly product development for a full?service supplier program within our Signal & Power Solutions segment. This role serves as a key technical and customer interface, responsible for the design, development, and release of vehicle Electrical Distribution Systems (EDS) while driving quality, cost, and timing objectives.

The ideal candidate is a strong communicator with hands?on automotive wiring experience who thrives in a fast?paced, customer?facing environment and enjoys driving issues to closure.

• Lead the design and development of vehicle Electrical Distribution Systems (EDS) wiring assemblies
  .
• Serve as the primary interface between internal teams, company resources, and the customer for design changes, cost, and timing updates
  , reporting through formal customer change control meetings.
• Manage and maintain strong working relationships with engineering customers, acting as a decisive technical point of contact for signal and power system design and development
  .
• Provide on?site vehicle build and launch support as required at customer vehicle plants.
• Drive closure of Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and product development issues in collaboration with the customer and internal stakeholders.
• Partner with customers to achieve continuous improvement targets
  , including warranty reduction and cost optimization.
• Ensure compliance with Bill of Design (BOD) and Bill of Process (BOP) requirements.
• Apply new products, technologies, and engineering solutions that add customer value and create a competitive advantage.
• Proactively manage risk by identifying, mitigating, and escalating issues as needed to meet program objectives.
• Ensure full compliance with customer?specific requirements, standards, and processes

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline (Electrical, Systems, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field).
• Minimum 3+ years of experience as a Design Release Engineer (DRE).
• Electrical wiring / harness design and development experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interface effectively with customers and cross?functional teams.
• Proven ability to work in multi?functional environments (engineering, commercial, and program management).
• Willingness to learn, adapt, and remain flexible in a dynamic, fast?changing environment.

• Experience supporting multiple vehicle launches

• Working knowledge of WERS
  .
• Automotive Electrical Distribution System (EDS) design release experience.
• Experience with Teamcenter Vis Mockup and/or Zuken
  .
