Job Title:
Design Release Engineer
We are seeking a dedicated Design Release Engineer to contribute to the design and development of vehicle Electrical Distribution Systems (EDS) wiring. This role involves collaborating with internal teams and managing relationships with engineering customers to ensure efficient design and development of signal and power systems. You will be responsible for driving continuous improvement targets, ensuring compliance with customer‑specific requirements, and supporting vehicle builds on‑site as needed.
Responsibilities- Design and develop vehicle Electrical Distribution Systems (EDS) wiring.
- Collaborate with internal resources to obtain cost and timing for changes, and communicate these through customer change control meetings.
- Manage relationships with engineering customers and serve as the decisive interface for design and development of signal and power systems.
- Provide on‑site vehicle build support as required.
- Resolve Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and product development issues with the customer.
- Work towards continuous improvement targets such as warranty and cost reduction.
- Ensure compliance with Bill of Design (BOD) and Bill of Process (BOP).
- Introduce new products and engineering solutions that add value to customers and create competitive advantages.
- Identify, mitigate, and elevate risks to complete objectives.
- Ensure compliance with customer‑specific requirements.
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline (electrical, systems, computer science, software, computer or related field).
- Strong communication skills.
- Minimum of 3+ years of experience as a Design Release Engineer (DRE).
- Experience in multi‑functional roles, including engineering, commercial, and program management.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with electrical wiring and harnesses.
- Experience supporting multiple vehicle launches.
- Knowledge of WERS system.
- Experience in automotive electrical distribution system design release engineering.
- Familiarity with Teamcenter Vismockup and other relevant software.
The role may require reporting to a person or customer site, with the flexibility to work remotely as needed. The work environment supports collaboration and innovation, focusing on using advanced technologies and methodologies to achieve objectives.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Troy, MI.
Pay And BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $40.00 - $45.00/hr.
