Responsibilities- Serve as Technical liaison to IAC Plants, Quality, Engineering, and OEM's for complete gauge life cycle.
- Assure standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria in designing, building, and modifying gauges to meet customer quality requirements, prioritize work loads, review program timing weekly, maintain status in the IAC Prolink tooltab, and review gauge designs prior to release.
- Supervise gauge designs to assure effective measuring techniques for the corporation's products that adhere to corporate quality specifications and all references to industry standards.
- Evaluate gauge design and build for functional ease of use in set up, certification, calibration, check methods and repair relative to IAC gauge standards.
- Provide support for various projects relative to functional gauges and inspection systems.
- Approve design and build for component and assembly fixtures that meet plant operations and inspection method requirements per customer standards.
- Complete tasks and gauge design projects in a collaborative environment to ensure quality requirements are met.
- Review outside supplier quotes on cost, timing, and delivery. Write purchase orders and establish budgets as needed. Develop supplier base that meets corporate cost and quality requirements.
- Work with appropriate PDT’s and engineering departments to address component print issues.
- Collaborate on necessary documentation updates (SQC’s, SPC’s, etc) to support functional gauges.
- Perform within departmental objectives for time and quality. Create timelines and deliverable lists to ensure on‑time project completion.
- Own approval authority for functional gauge design changes.
- Assist in disposition for failed functional gauge calibrations and R&R’s.
- Recommend new gauge technologies.
- Troubleshoot complex gauge or measurement system malfunctions.
- Monitor key program deliverables from award through PPAP.
- Provide lead on gauge quotes for new customer program RFQs.
- Provide support on FTF (fast track fixtures) with 3D printed details for certain programs (e.g., service, prototype, and pilot builds).
- Proven knowledge and experience in interior products.
- Strong knowledge of GD&T/datum strategies, gauge, manufacturing, and assembly processes with a thorough understanding of gauge design, development, and measurement principles.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong leadership along with excellent oral, written, and communication skills. Able to work in a team environment.
- Strong sense of urgency.
- Strong presentation skills.
- Comfortable presenting to high levels of management (both IAC and customer).
- Able and willing to travel to IAC plants, supplier and customer sites to provide onsite support as needed.
