Product Engineering Manager – Automotive Coatings

PPG is hiring for a Product Engineering Manager to join our Automotive OEM team. The role focuses on market development activities across USCA & Mexico, LAS, supporting APAD Auto Coatings OEM & Tiers Products, driving sales volume and market share within the North American OEM Coatings industry. The position coordinates global powder, SPS, A&S, EV, DCS color and technology support activities with OEM & Tiers teams.

• Lead all new technology and product approvals for projects within the business plan and in accordance with strategic marketing and global account management for defined OEM & Tiers.
• Manage approvals from OEM level down to n‑Tier across the complete product portfolio.
• Collaborate with Auto OEM & Tiers Sales and OEM Coatings Customer Teams to support growth and market penetration of PPG product portfolio.
• Implement established PPO and pricing policies to ensure product line profitability meets plan targets.
• Communicate customer needs and expectations to launch coordinator, execute pre-launch activities in Secure Launch for successful product/technology introduction.
• Provide market feedback to Commercial Sales, Business Development, Technical & Strategic Marketing groups to prioritize future product and service development.
• Establish and maintain relationships with customers to ensure long‑term growth and profitability.
• Initiate and direct projects/programs introducing new PPG products with customer engineering groups using value‑selling tools.
• Obtain customer engineering approval of PPG products through coordination with customer and PPG technical groups, including annual model‑year color approvals.
• Coordinate global color and technology support activities with OEM teams when requested.

• Degree in Engineering or Physical Sciences; preferred disciplines Chemical/Mechanical Engineering or Chemistry.
• 8+ years of experience with coatings materials and application knowledge.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Project, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Novi, MI – $160,000–$180,000 per year (salary ranges vary by location).
