Lead – Systems Administration​/Backup & Storage SME

Who are we looking for?

A Senior Backup & Storage SME having 10-12+ years of experience working as Backup & Storage technical SPOC for BAU operations. He/ She should have handled and have strong experience in managing large/complex Backup and storage systems for an enterprise client.

• 10-12 years of experience in designing, managing, and optimizing backup and storage solutions in a large-scale enterprise environment.
• Expert in backup technologies like Commvault, VEEAM, Rubrik, and storage platforms such as 3
  
  PAR, Net App, EMC Data Domain, and AWS.
• Oversees the end-to-end management of backup and storage systems, ensuring high availability, security, and compliance with organizational standards.
• Leads complex troubleshooting and issue resolution for backup and storage-related problems, ensuring minimal service disruptions.
• Develops and enforces backup strategies, retention policies, and disaster recovery procedures, ensuring compliance with business continuity requirements.
• Guides and mentors’ teams in optimizing backup performance, reducing RTO/RPO, and ensuring efficient data management and protection.
• Provides expertise in scaling backup and storage infrastructures to support organizational growth, ensuring future-proof solutions.
• Oversees the integration of cloud-based storage solutions (AWS, Azure) and backup strategies into the overall enterprise architecture.
• Conducts regular system performance audits, identifying optimization opportunities and ensuring systems meet peak performance levels.
• Works closely with IT security teams to ensure that backup and storage systems are secure, encrypted, and compliant with regulatory requirements.
• Provides technical leadership during infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and integrations of backup and storage systems.
• Leads efforts to automate backup and storage processes, streamlining operations and reducing manual intervention.
• Collaborates with cross-functional teams, including database, networking, and application teams, to ensure integrated and efficient backup and storage solutions.
• Develops and implements capacity planning, ensuring that backup and storage infrastructure is scalable and aligned with business requirements.
• Conducts periodic reviews and updates of backup systems, recommending improvements, cost‑effective solutions, and risk mitigation strategies.
• Provides expert guidance and knowledge transfer to junior and mid‑level engineers, driving improvements in operational efficiency and performance.

• Strong knowledge on ITIL and worked on incident/change/problem on regular basis.
• Strong Backup & Storage skills in assisting juniors in troubleshooting the Backup and storage related issues.
• Expert knowledge on Critical incident management and SLA management.

• Effective interpersonal, team building and communication skills
• Able to thrive in rapid environment and adopt new technology Fastly.

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree preferably in Computer Science or Information Systems and/or equivalent formal training or work experience.
• 10-12+ years of relevant experience in Backup & Storage Infrastructure.
• Must have certification on one Backup Product and One Storage product from the above-mentioned skills.
