Position: Manufacturing Engineer (Flight Test Missile Assembly) - Troy, Alabama

Basic Qualifications & Education

Degree from an accredited college in Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline at the Bachelor level or above and at least 1 year of professional experience; alternatively, 4 years of related professional experience. Knowledgeable in general manufacturing processes in a production factory environment. Demonstrated mechanical hands‑on assembly, disassembly, and troubleshooting skills in missile assembly and test, including repair of non‑operating tools and industrial equipment.

Willing to occasionally rotate to second (nights) or weekend shifts (Friday, Saturday, Sunday). Must be a U.S. citizen with ability to obtain a DoD Secret Security Clearance and must pass an ATF background check to obtain “employee possessor” status for explosives or other ATF‑regulated items. Failure to obtain or retain such status may result in revocation of an offer and loss of employment.

Job Description

You will serve as the Manufacturing Engineer (Flight Test Missile Assembly) for Pike County Operations (PCO). The team is responsible for developing high‑tech solutions in advanced missile manufacturing to meet next‑generation warfighter needs.

What You Will Be Doing

As the Manufacturing Engineer (Missile Assembly) on the weekend shift, you will solve technical issues on the production shop floor, develop and improve manufacturing processes, integrate new technologies, and enhance digital tools to boost productivity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide hands‑on shop‑floor support to resolve technical and manufacturing issues.
  • Analyze engineering data to develop new manufacturing processes and detailed work instructions.
  • Integrate new assets and technologies into the factory to advance production capabilities.
  • Support continuous‑improvement initiatives that drive quality, cost, and schedule performance.
  • Investigate root causes of quality defects and implement effective corrective and preventive actions.

Desired Skills

Experience interpreting engineering requirements from product data models, drawings, parts lists, and specifications to generate manufacturing processes and conduct detailed failure analysis for determining root cause and implementing corrective or preventive actions to eliminate defects. Working knowledge of building and testing military flight test missiles. Experience in an aerospace/automotive manufacturing environment. Familiarity with manufacturing software DELMIA Apriso Manufacturing Execution System (MES), PTC Creo CAD, Windchill PLM with MPMLink and Systems Applications & Products (SAP) Enterprise Resource Planning tools.
