Mechanical Design Engineer

Overview

We’re supporting an established engineering business in Trowbridge who require a Mechanical Drawing Engineer for a 12-month assignment.

This role will focus on transitioning legacy mechanical drawings into Solid Works, supporting ongoing product updates and engineering improvements.

The Role

• Converting legacy 2D drawings into Solid Works 3D models
• Updating and revising existing mechanical drawings
• Supporting engineering change requests (ECR / ECN)
• Ensuring drawing standards and documentation accuracy
• Liaising with production and engineering teams to clarify legacy designs

This is a hands-on CAD-focused position with minimal design-from-scratch work — ideal for someone strong in drawing interpretation and detail accuracy.

We’re open to engineers from a range of sectors including:

• Manufacturing
• Machinery / Capital Equipment
• Sheet Metal / Fabrication

You should have:

• Strong Solid Works experience (modelling + drawings)
• Background in mechanical drawing / detailing
• Ability to interpret older / legacy drawing formats
• Good understanding of tolerances and manufacturing processes
• Experience working within engineering drawing standards
