Senior Engineer – Traffic Engineering

Wiltshire Council is seeking an experienced Senior Engineer to join our Traffic Engineering team. This role offers a unique opportunity to design and deliver innovative traffic management solutions that enhance road safety and network efficiency across the county.

As a Senior Engineer, you will lead the design, development, and implementation of traffic engineering measures. You will work closely with local communities, Area Boards, and partners to develop practical solutions and manage projects from concept to completion, ensuring compliance with statutory procedures and legislation.

• Design and deliver traffic management schemes, including consultation and stakeholder engagement.
• Supervise installation and oversee works on-site, making swift decisions to resolve issues.
• Provide expert advice to councillors, parish councils, and partners on traffic engineering matters.
• Manage budgets, allocate resources, and monitor contractor performance.
• Develop policies and innovative practices to improve traffic management across Wiltshire.

• Degree in Civil Engineering and membership of an appropriate institution.
• Incorporated Engineer status.
  
  Extensive experience in traffic engineering and project management.
• Strong technical knowledge, problem‑solving skills, and ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
• Proficiency in specialist IT software (e.g., AutoCAD, Sign Plot, Map Info).
