TITLE: Distribution Driver
REPORTS TO: Distribution Manager, District Manager
FLSA CLASS: Hourly Non-Exempt
The job duties described below are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this job classification. They are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties and skills required of this position. All employees may be required to perform duties outside of their normal responsibilities from time to time, as needed.
Preferred Applicants Will Be Available from 6am-4pm. Each day starts and ends at our Edgefield location in Troutdale, Oregon.
The Distribution Driver will be asked to handle every task associated with the delivery of beer, wine, spirits, coffee and other McMenamin products and equipment. Duties include but are not limited to transporting and movement of full and empty beer kegs between various pub locations and breweries, transporting and movement of full and empty wine kegs and cases between various pub locations and the winery, transportation of various materials and equipment.
All drivers will be expected to maintain a clean driving record, work largely unsupervised, organize and schedule deliveries with little or no interference with pub and brewery operations, keep clear and organized records and forecast distribution needs. Drivers are also responsible for keeping the delivery trucks clean and well maintained. Being a Distribution Driver can be hard physical work and requires mental agility and the ability to effectively multi-task in a fast paced and deadline oriented environment.
A driver must also have the ability to work well independently and as a member of a team. Each employee will be expected to perform their job in a safe manner and report any safety concerns to Management. All McMenamin employees will also be expected to keep current on all company events, history, and products. Other duties as assigned by the Manager on duty.
Requirements of the Job:
- A flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays
- Ability to remain calm and focused in a high volume, deadline oriented work environment
- Compliance of safety and policy guidelines
- Previous inventory management experience is preferred
- Basic mathematical skills with or without the use of a calculator
- Computer experience including a working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word
- Attention to detail as well as effective organizational, prioritizing and multi-tasking skills
- Forklift certification and pallet jack experience a plus
- Ability to have a flexible schedule including days, eves, weekends, and holidays
Essential Functions of the Job:
- Work for long periods on feet including frequent walking, stair climbing and working outdoors in varied weather conditions
- Perform repetitive movement such as pushing, pulling, bending, some twisting and stooping
- Perform fine hand manipulation including handling small and large objects, writing, use of delivery equipment, etc.
- Accurate and efficient inventory management
- Communicate clearly
- Maintain a positive attitude with the ability to communicate clearly and interact positively and professionally with employees, vendors and customers
- Practice safe lifting/carrying techniques with the ability to frequently lift up to 180 lbs, frequently lift 30 lbs overhead.
- Maneuver heavy loads on a hand truck up and down stairs and into coolers.
- Operate light machinery, use basic hand tools such as hammer, wrench, pliers, etc.
- Ability to concentrate, focus effectively and accurately work with numbers
- Must have a valid Oregon Driver License and maintain a clean driving record.
- Defensive driving skill and obey all traffic laws.
- Ability to effectively work in a stressful and deadline oriented environment
- Safely work with and around compressed gases including carbon dioxide and nitrogen
- Safely handle and work around materials and chemicals used within the brewing and winemaking process including but not limited to hop dust, pollen, cleaning agents and caustic chemicals such as caustic soda, alkaline cleaners, acid cleaners, iodine sanitizers & bleach
- Comply with all safety procedures and policies
Non-Essential Functions of the Job:
- Washing and filling kegs
- Labeling and bottling
