Hourly base pay rate is $26.73 - $40.10/hour. The hourly base rate may vary within the anticipated range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, and abilities. Job SummaryTo support growth, Fleet Services By Cox Automotive is hiring a Mobile Trailer Technician II to join our team. This is a dedicated on-site position and we do not provide emergency roadside repairs. The Mobile Trailer Technician II will perform certified DOT inspections, preventive maintenance inspections, light repairs, and other duties such as trailer brakes, air lines, auxiliary pumps, engines, liftgates, brake chambers, welding, fabrication, replacement of panels, body and framework.
Work performed at the customer site. The Technician II can perform more advanced repairs under supervision of a Sr Mobile Trailer Technician or higher and assists with learning advanced mechanical skills. A successful Technician II complies with all company policies and achieves high performance metrics.
- Preventive maintenance and repairs on refrigeration equipment (Thermo King, Carrier, and others); DOT inspections on Freightliner and Mack Trucks; trailers serviced on-site with little or no supervision.
- Diagnose and repair/replace compressors, coils, electrical components, etc.
- Follow safe operating practices and procedures.
- Independently manage parts inventory and equipment on the company-issued service truck and perform periodic reconciliation.
- Maintain and operate the company-issued service vehicle; conduct safety checks and pre-/post-trip inspections.
- Apply knowledge from formal training or on-the-job experience; interpret technical information related to the job.
- Interact with clients and customers to assess needs, provide information or assistance, resolve issues, and meet expectations.
- Manage concurrent tasks, prioritize work-related activities and time allocations.
- Display integrity, honesty, and confidentiality; adhere to ethical standards.
- Perform scheduled PMs, DOT inspections, and follow-up repairs on trailers/equipment in a mobile/field environment.
- Respond to call center dispatched unscheduled service requests.
- Use hand tools, precision instruments, trailer tools, welding equipment, and jacks.
- Document work according to company standards; upload photos and notes on Repair Orders using iOS device and TRAIT application.
- Accurately complete DOT forms and other documentation in a timely fashion.
- Work independently and manage daily schedule; maintain productivity near standard repair times.
- Obtain parts from approved local and national vendors as needed.
- Communicate with management and support teams for approvals, PO numbers, and RO findings.
- Ensure compliance with safety, health, environmental policies and federal regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT).
