As a Shortage Control Associate (SCA), your role directly impacts the store's security and the overall shopping experience. By exhibiting command presence, knowledge of theft trends, and a positive impression of control, you will help mitigate theft and create a safe, enjoyable shopping environment.
Responsibilities- Maintain a professional appearance and presence at the front of the store.
- Greet every customer entering or exiting with a warm smile and friendly greeting.
- Monitor store entrance throughout each shift, focusing on reducing opportunities for theft.
- Build trust and respect among customers and associates through confidence and positive attitude.
- Identify and report theft incidents or suspicious activity to the Manager on Duty.
- Master top shortage areas and support programs that reduce theft.
- Communicate theft‑prevention information during store rallies.
- Conduct bag and package checks on associates to ensure safety and security compliance.
- Understand your role in protecting store assets.
- Provide training support on shortage‑reduction programs and processes.
- Model safety practices and address unsafe behavior promptly.
- 1+ year experience in customer service, hospitality, retail, asset protection, loss prevention, or operations.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and visually monitor the store environment.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Analytical skills to review and interpret business trends.
- Strong communication and leadership skills that foster productive relationships.
- High‑pressure, fast‑paced work tolerance with a disciplined decision‑making approach.
