The Office of User Support Services, Department of Media & Technology Support Services is seeking candidates for the Student MTSS Technician role.

The MTSS Technician position is vital to the success of everyday technology  have a responsibility to ensure faculty, staff, students and guests can focus on their class purpose and area of expertise while enjoying a carefree, user-friendly audiovisual experience in tech enabled spaces on campus. This position offers the opportunity to grow as a student and as a professional.

Main Responsibilities
  • MTSS Technicians are responsible for first level technical support for phone and walk up contacts
  • Responsible for monitoring calls and requests on a continual timely basis
  • Responsible for delivery, setup and take down of campus audio/visual (A/V) equipment
  • Responsible for daily support of classroom A/V technology
  • Assist in setups and operation of event technology
  • Assists in other duties and projects as assigned by the MTTS Staff

  • Event Planning – the ability to effectively plan programs, understanding what it takes to coordinate a successful event.
  • Interpersonal and Human Relations Skills – the ability to interact effectively with peers, colleagues, faculty and supervisors, the ability to work well in a group or on your own, share in responsibilities, understand the feelings of others, organizing principles, evaluate information against appropriate standards.
  • Critical Thinking Skills – the ability to identify quickly and accurately the critical issues when making a decision or solving a problem, identify problems and needs, identify information sources appropriate to a problem or need and formulate questions to clarify a problem.
  • Valuing Skills – the ability to assess a course of action in terms of its long‑range effects on the general human welfare, make decisions that will maximize both individual and collective good, and the ability to use ethical thinking and decision making when solving issues.
  • Informational Management Skills – the ability to problem solve, sort data and objects, compile and rack information, apply information creatively to problems or tasks, synthesize facts, concepts and principles, understand and use.
Requirements
  • Must be able to lift heavy equipment (50 lbs.)
  • Must be able to work 12 - 15 hours per week and provide availability for the closing shift (until 10pm) at least twice a week
Preferred Qualifications
  • Must have a working knowledge of audio-visual equipment (projectors, microphones, laptops, etc.)
  • Must have a working knowledge of Windows & Mac computers, presentation software, operating systems, etc.
  • Ability and interest in learning technology related skills
