Job Overview

Under the direction of the supervisor, accurately performs a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative in the utilization of radionuclides for the diagnosis and treatment of disease in humans. Maintains safety regulations and cleanliness standards with the section. Follows hospital and nuclear medicine policies and NRC guidelines. Uses an understanding of growth and development to assess each patient’s age-specific needs and provide age-specific treatment and care.

Qualifications

Required
:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology or a related field
  • Graduate of an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology program
  • Proficiency in operating PET-CT and SPECT / SPECT CT imaging equipment

Certifications And Licenses Required
:

  • NJ NMT License
  • BLS Certification approved by the American Heart Association
  • Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB)

Essential Functions
  • Operate PET-CT and SPECT imaging equipment to produce high-quality diagnostic images
  • Administer radiopharmaceuticals to patients following established protocols
  • Prepare patients for imaging procedures, explaining the process and addressing any concerns
  • Monitor patients during the imaging process to ensure their safety and comfort
  • Ensure accurate patient positioning to obtain optimal imaging results
  • Maintain and calibrate PET-CT equipment to ensure proper functionality
  • Adhere to radiation safety protocols and guidelines to protect patients and staff
  • Work collaboratively with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to interpret imaging results
  • Document imaging procedures and maintain accurate patient records
  • Assist in the training and supervision of junior technologists and students
  • Stay updated with advancements in PET-CT technology and imaging techniques
  • Other duties as assigned
