The Learning Depot (Trenton, NJ) – P-3 Certified Teacher

- Reports to:
Director
- Work with the pre-school director in the planning, implementation, and operation of the center.
- Implement a learning plan for preschool children.
- Implement individualized lessons for students who need extra help or are cognitively ahead of their peers.
- Manage a class to maintain a positive, nurturing, and respectful learning environment.
- Provide day-to-day supervision of all students and keep a record of attendance and CACFP monthly meal count.
- Maintain an accurate roll book and input information on TS Gold to reflect students’ progress, attendance, and effort.
- Uphold and enforce all rules, regulations, and policies in accordance with state childcare centers.
- Maintain an attractive, clean, and organized classroom.
- Maintain designated bulletin boards inside and outside the classroom.
- Communicate successfully with the teacher assistant.
- Maintain open communication with parents.
- Participate in parent night activities.
- Share all classroom responsibilities with assistant teachers (cleaning toys, assisting children with self-help skills).
- Model best teaching practices.
- Support all areas of development of students (social, emotional, cognitive, etc.).
- Use observation of children and anecdotal notes to document progress and implement individualized and general lesson plans.
- Individualize instruction and prepare lesson plans according to students’ interests and academic growth.
- Submit weekly lesson plans every Thursday prior to the lesson.
- Create partnerships with families to establish positive interaction patterns in the program and home.
- Partner with parents to enhance the social and emotional development of students.
- Utilize technology in the classroom for a maximum of fifteen minutes per week per child.
- Supervise and participate in nutritionally prepared meals with the children as a curriculum activity to model good nutrition and social skills.
- Supervise all classroom field trips and outdoor activities (facilitating gross motor activities with students).
- Encourage parent participation in parent-teacher conferences and other activities.
- Write a monthly classroom newsletter and updates to submit to parents and the Director on the first of each month.
- Request supplies as needed and participate in classroom/program inventory as requested.
- Provide a print-rich environment to develop literacy, numeracy, and social skills using increasingly complex language and problem-solving abilities.
- Provide positive guidance and discipline to support children as they acquire readiness skills for kindergarten and beyond.
- Integrate individual Education Plans (IEPs) for children with learning differences and submit with weekly lesson plans.
- Attend monthly staff meetings as requested and weekly teacher meetings as requested.
- Assist with and attend at least 5 after-school activities/events (e.g., back to school night, staff meetings, parent meetings).
- Keep children safe and comfortable.
- Attend meetings at Learning Depot and other institutions as needed or assigned.
- Attend training/professional development provided by Trenton Board of Education, Learning Depot, Childcare Connections, NJCCIS.
- Register for NJCCIS (Professional Impact) and maintain updated membership.
- Submit training hours and certifications to NJCCIS and place all in the training binder provided by Learning Depot.
- Maintain a minimum ECERS-3 score of 5.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of food program forms, monthly attendance, student observation, and parent conferences, etc.
- (Trenton BOE contracted educators) Work closely with Trenton BOE (PIRS and PIC), conduct ESI-R assessments, and assess children on an ongoing basis. Gather and organize anecdotal notes into the key domains and documents for Creative Curriculum Gold through online curriculum.
- Maintain the classroom when the custodian is absent (clean, sweep, mop, etc.).
- Job Type: Full-time
- Benefits: Health insurance
- Schedule: 8:30am-3:30pm (Monday through Friday)
- Pay: $54,000.00 - $65,000 (September through June). Rate of pay is based on the tiered system.
