Job Duties
This position provides leadership and oversight for the Funeral Service program by acting as the Program Director, ensuring compliance with the standards of the American Board of Funeral Service Education (ABFSE) and guiding the program through the re-accreditation process. In addition to teaching core Funeral Service program courses, this role is responsible for curriculum planning, assessment, program review, and maintaining the relevancy of course offerings.
Duties include student advising and completion of needed documents for graduation, hiring and assigning of adjunct faculty, and the development of both credit and non-credit courses to meet evolving industry needs. This position will also oversee the Donor Program, coordinate field supervision of students, and lead the Funeral Service Advisory Board. Further responsibilities include directing program marketing efforts and actively participating in divisional and departmental activities to support the continued growth and excellence of the Funeral Service program.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Deliver well-prepared, organized, and engaging lectures in multiple formats (day, evening, weekend, hybrid, online, and off-campus).
- Provide timely feedback and support to students through office hours, advisement, email communication, and mentoring on academic and career planning.
- Foster an inclusive, respectful classroom environment that values the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of students, faculty, and staff.
- Incorporate innovative teaching methods and emerging technologies to enhance student learning.
- Support experiential learning opportunities, including involvement in student clubs, extracurricular activities, and field placements.
- Coordinate curriculum for designated courses, serve as adjunct liaison, and contribute to course/program review, assessment, and development.
- Collaborate with the Dean, MCCC and Business, Technology and Professional Studies (BTP) faculty, external colleagues, ABFSE personnel, advisory board members, and industry partners to strengthen the Funeral Service program.
- Lead recruitment, outreach, and marketing initiatives, and develop strategies to increase program enrollment.

- Plan annual Funeral Service graduation ceremony
- Serve as advisor for Funeral Service club
- Participate actively in college service, including governance, committee work, professional development, curriculum initiatives, and community engagement.
- Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned to support the success and growth of the program.
- Must have a flexible work schedule which would include teaching course loads on evenings and weekends.
- Will be expected to work on both campuses, JKC and West Windsor.
