Overview
The Fabricator/Finisher will assemble, join, fabricate, and repair metal and other material by applying appropriate welding techniques. They will interpret blueprints, specifications, diagrams, or schematics to determine an appropriate welding process. In addition, they operate grinding machines to assemble products and product parts to established blueprint and engineering specifications. They select, mount, attach and calibrate a variety of attachments to grind angles, contours, lines, spheres, etc.
on to surfaces. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.
Duties and Responsibilities
Produces components by assembling parts and subassembliesReads and deciphers schematics, blueprints, and assembly instructionsUses hand tools or machines to assemble partsDesign, fabricate, join, fit/tack, and repair equipment, fixtures and various types of metal objects and structures using various welding techniquesOperate drill presses, power saws, grinders and a variety of welding equipment and hand toolsWelds components in flat, vertical, or overhead positionsAnalyzes plans, drawings, work samples, specifications, and work orders to determine work requirements and sequence of welding assignments/techniques. Grinds, sands and polishes the product in the most time efficient and cost effective manner as evidenced by department standardsResponsible for checking all dimensions per the blueprint as evidenced by additional measuring and reading of the blue printCompletes the finishing of the product to ensure the appearance meets or exceeds the company standards as evidenced by the final inspection before shipping to the customerAssists in Assembly as requested by supervisor as evidenced by the production schedule and deadlinesDeliver and distribute all finished products to assembly as evidenced by the travelerProcess job orders in a timely and accurate manner as evidenced by the completed traveler with appropriate job numberLogs into the shop management computer system to allow for an accurate accounting of time spent on a particular job as evidenced by labor reports produced by the E2 systemResponsible to clean up area at the end of each shift as evidenced by supervisor's observationAssists in shop maintenance to include but not limited to sweeping shop floors, cleaning bathrooms and emptying trash containers as evidenced by supervisor's observationOther duties as required by supervisorSupervisory Responsibilities

Qualification Requirements
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
- Have knowledge of welding techniques, tools and equipment
- Use proper safety and protective equipment utilized during welding assignments
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and various forms of instrumentation
- Prior experience with metal fabrication
- Mechanical and technical skills
- Skills in the fabrication, joining and repair of a variety of metal objects, equipment, fixtures and structures
- Strong math skills required to be used in measuring the work process
Education and Experience - Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent
- May be required to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty
- May require 0-2 years of experience in the field or in a related area
