Duties/Responsibilities:
- Represent Northwest Michigan Community Action Agency (NMCAA) in a professional, friendly, and caring manner, supporting the mission and vision of the organization.
- Ensure full enrollment for NMCAA Child and Family Development programs by recruiting families, conducting in-person intake either in office or client home, and maintaining program waitlists.
- Conduct health screenings (hearing, vision, hematocrit, blood pressure) and ensure timely distribution of results to appropriate personnel and families. Communicate with teachers and Family Service staff regarding health and licensing requirements.
- Manage waitlists and collaborate with Family Service Staff and Education Coaches to achieve full enrollment. Ensure applications, documentations, and follow up on incomplete applications meet Head Start Program Performance Standards (HSPPS) guidelines and GSRP Implementation Manual. Request Individualized Education Programs (IEP) and medical follow-up information as needed.
- Collaborate with Child and Family Development staff to recruit families, following the program's recruitment plan and Community Needs.
- Collaborate with local GSRP and Intermediate School Districts to promote program goals, attend joint recruitment meetings, and follow recruitment procedures through utilizing the MiECC or COOR database systems.
- Participate in professional development opportunities, income and eligibility training, recruitment and health meetings, recaps with Manager, and other activities as directed by the ERSEA and Health Manager to keep up to date on health and enrollment trends.
- Promote all NMCAA prenatal-5 programs options through direct outreach with referring agencies and community partners.
- Build and maintain relationships with local health departments, medical practices, and dental offices to ensure families receive the appropriate screenings and follow-ups.
- Conduct required health screenings either in classrooms or homes that include hearing, vision, blood pressure and hematocrit screenings.
- Work with the Health/Data Management Coordinator to ensure accurate data in Child Plus. Scan and store updates documentation into Child Plus, ensuring accurate eligibility, recruitment data, and health records.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- A commitment to the NMCAA philosophy and mission. Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to engage with co-workers and clients in a positive, non-judgmental, and courteous manner. Ability to offer innovative solutions, collaborate as a team member, and prioritize tasks.
- High School Diploma
- Associate's degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Human Services, Health, or related field preferred
- Experience working with low-income or at-risk families.
Licensing and Other Requirements:
Valid driver's license and proof of vehicle insurance is required. Pass a comprehensive background check-CCLB.
Must be at least 21 years old.
Meet OHS health requirements-Medical Clearance
Obtain CPR/First Aid Certification.
