MRI Technologist – Akumin® – Traverse City, MI
Akumin® invites you to apply for the MRI Technologist position, offering a $50,000 sign‑on bonus. This role requires ensuring patient safety and delivering high‑quality MR studies on site or remotely, while maintaining effective communication with radiologists, team members, patients, and customers in a mobile environment.
Responsibilities- Ensure patient safety, including pre‑screening for contra‑indications and aseptic injection technique.
- Produce high‑quality diagnostic images and operate multiple MR systems as required.
- Utilize all communication channels to address concerns, solve problems, and manage conflict.
- Communicate effectively with customers and radiologists.
- Train and orient new technologists, patient coordinators, and MR technologist assistants on site and/or remotely.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or equivalent experience.
- ARRT (R) or ARRT (MR) or ARMRIT as acceptable alternatives.
- State license, if applicable.
- CPR certification.
- Valid state driver’s license, as applicable.
- Technologists registered in other modalities: 3 months supervised MRI clinical scanning experience or currently enrolled for more than 6 months in an accredited MRI training program.
- MR registered technologist (RT(MR) or ARMRIT):
No prior experience required. - Ability to work at several locations.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Organizational and multi‑tasking skills.
- Basic knowledge of computer applications and programs.
- The COVID‑19 vaccination may be a condition of employment.
- Local travel may be required.
- Associate’s Degree or equivalent experience.
- Registry in Magnetic Resonance by the ARRT.
- 1 year of Magnetic Resonance Imaging experience.
The employee will be exposed to outside weather conditions during patient transport on a mobile unit and to a strong magnetic field. Exposure may also include blood/body fluids and communicable diseases when interacting with patients.
- More than 50% of time:
Sit, stand, walk; repetitive hand, arm, and leg movements; see, speak, and hear for patient communication. - Less than 50% of time:
Stoop, kneel or crawl; climb and balance; carry and lift non‑ambulatory patients for transfer or examination.
