Position: Junior/ Lead Instructor

Legacy Aviation Learning Center, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, is Northern Michigan’s premier aviation maintenance education facility, dedicated to fostering aviation enthusiasm and preparing future professionals for the industry. The center is an FAA-certified Aircraft Maintenance Technician School (AMTS) situated in Traverse City, MI, funded through public and private partnerships. As part of addressing the growing demand for aviation mechanics and technicians, the center aims to graduate 50 students annually who will be prepared for fulfilling careers earning between $80,000 to $125,000.

Established in 2022, Legacy Aviation Learning Center resides in a state-of-the-art facility adjacent to Cherry Capital Airport, featuring a Delta-Two Hangar and office building.

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role for a Junior/Lead Instructor based in Traverse City, MI. The Junior/Lead Instructor will be responsible for delivering high-quality technical instruction to aviation maintenance students, developing instructional resources, mentoring students, and ensuring compliance with FAA standards. The role will involve conducting hands-on training in aircraft maintenance, preparing lesson plans, maintaining records, assessing student performance, and contributing to curriculum development to meet industry and regulatory standards.

Qualifications
  • Teaching and mentoring skills, along with the ability to guide students through hands-on technical training and classroom instruction.
  • Expertise in aviation maintenance, airframe and power plant (A/P) mechanic certification, or significant experience in aircraft systems and technologies.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills to create instructional materials, maintain records, and provide constructive feedback to students.
  • Familiarity with FAA regulations and compliance requirements for aviation technician training programs.
  • Dedication to inspiring and educating aspiring aviation professionals, with experience in the aviation or educational field preferred.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a close-knit team of aviation professionals and with students of diverse backgrounds.
