Team Elmer's seeks to fill a full-time seasonal opening for a Paver Equipment Operator
for a spring start
.
Paver Operator – Operate paving machines that spread and level hot mix asphalt paving material on the subgrade of highways and streets with the aid of stakes and level gauges to ensure the mix is placed at the proper grade and thickness.
- Preheat paving screed before placement of asphalt.
- Control paving machine to dump truck and maintain a constant flow of asphalt into the hopper.
- Observe distribution of paving material along the screed and control the direction of the screed to eliminate voids at curbs and joints.
- Attach extensions to screed to adjust width.
- Keep the paver maintained.
- Maintain a CDL license to haul the paver from job to job.

Qualifications- Valid license, CDL A required.
- Minimum 3 years of experience.
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Clean driving record for the past 5 years.
- Ability to pass a pre‑employment physical and drug screen.
- Mechanical – Knowledge of equipment, machines and tools including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
- Building and Construction – Knowledge of materials, methods, and tools involved in construction or repair of houses, buildings, or other structures such as highways and roads.
- Experience as a prep crew laborer or comparable experience is preferred.
- Ability to complete tasks on asphalt crew as needed such as handling power tools, running heavy equipment, raking, shoveling.
- Ability and willingness to learn and understand your role on the team.
- Ability to work long hours and perform repetitive lifting, carrying, climbing, and walking. Repetitive lifting could be 40 or more pounds at any one time.
- Ability to work long hours and 5‑6 days a week in all environmental conditions.
- Good work ethic, punctuality and alertness.
- Ability to follow all company, DOT, OSHA, and MiOSHA safety rules.
