Locate Technician – Grid Hawk LLC

Locate Technicians are responsible for accurately locating underground facilities including, but not limited to, telephone communication lines, electric power lines, cable television lines, gas lines, fiber optic lines, water lines, and sewer lines. This position is a key component to ensure that the area is complying with client and state requirements.

Service duties include observing, locating, marking, and documenting underground and exposed utility locations. The technician will use multiple methods and may work independently or in a team environment under a supervisor.

• Accurately locate and verify underground and exposed utility locations.
• Observe, locate, mark, and document utility facilities.
• Use a transmitter and other tools to locate buried facilities.
• Work in diverse terrains and weather conditions.
• Interpret job order tickets, blueprints, and maps for efficient routing.
• Perform on‑call and emergency locates during regular, overtime and holiday hours.
• Communicate effectively with customers, co‑employees and third parties.
• Ensure a damage‑free environment by coordinating with management, contractors, and utility customers.

• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
• State‑issued driver's license.
• Ability to problem‑solve and interpret multiple types of prints.
• Ability to lift over 50 lbs and walk/stand for multiple hours a day.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Pass a background screening with no violations within the last 5 years.
• Pass a DOT drug test.
• Experience with vacuum truck a plus.

• 10‑hour shift.
• Monday to Friday.
• On call.
• Weekends as needed.

High school or equivalent (required)

• Computer skills – 1 year (preferred).
• Utility locating – 1 year (preferred).

Driver’s license (required)
