Position Summary

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Sr. Vice President of Family Center Operations, the VP of District Operations leads the overall operation of a district, including direct oversight for the home center. Supervises Executive Directors within the group in all key areas of responsibility and ensures the overall effectiveness with which the Y of Central Maryland accomplishes its goals and objectives within the communities served by the group.

Essential Functions

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Proven experience in membership and program development, staff development, fiscal management, board development and building community partnerships.

Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills, and be able to lead in a diverse environment and be sensitive to individual communities served

Responsible for quality customer services in the district consistent with established Y of Central Maryland policies and procedures.

Maintains effective relationships with center directors and management staff in the district as well as volunteers and community partners.

Facilitates, coaches and mentors staff teams and volunteers to further the mission and values of the Y.

Manages policy and program operations of the home center and provides leadership to the district in the following areas: CAB and volunteer development; philanthropy; community development; recruitment, training, and staff supervision; budget planning; program development and delivery.

Develops, implements and monitors branch operating budget in compliance with Association guidelines.

Serves as the staff liaison to the local Community Advisory Board (CAB) for the Y of Central Maryland s philanthropic initiatives, including annual giving and capital campaigns.

Oversees the strategic planning efforts of the district by developing short and long term plans that support Association goals and ensure the growth and successful operation of the centers.

Oversees the development and delivery of high quality services to Y members.

Ensures the safety and maintenance of high quality facilities, grounds, and equipment of all facilities in the district.

Oversees marketing and communication efforts in accordance with Association public relations guidelines.

Serves as a member of the Leadership Team and supports the overall objectives of the Association.

Qualifications

Education

Bachelor s degree in business administration, human services or equivalent.

Experience

Minimum seven years’ experience managing a Y center or the equivalent

All Y associates agree to abide by The Code of Conduct with Youth that sets clear expectations for associates and volunteers to ensure a safe and respectful environment for young people. It emphasizes treating youth with respect and fairness, avoiding inappropriate physical or verbal interactions, and adhering to established standards of affection. The policy strictly prohibits any form of abuse, bullying, or harassment and mandates the reporting of suspected mistreatment.

Additionally, associates and volunteers must complete training on child abuse prevention and comply with legal reporting requirements to safeguard youth.
