Under limited supervision of the IT Application Manager, the Application Coordinator/Analyst II is responsible for achieving in-depth knowledge of software and serving as a bridge between the end user operations and the Epic team. Reporting to a GBMC Application Manager for Epic applications, the Application Coordinator/Analyst II will review Epic software, analyze business operations and workflows, build the system efficiently to meet the end users' needs, test to ensure it meets desired requirements, adhere to change‑control procedures, and design, develop and coordinate the materials and training environments for the delivery of education to users of the Epic system.
In addition, the Application Coordinator/Analyst II will develop and implement internal procedures used in conjunction with vendor 3rd‑party applications, act as an application and project lead during all phases of system implementations, troubleshoot problems or questions from users and resolve assigned help‑desk tickets, participate in an on‑call rotation, and perform other duties as assigned.
Additional key responsibilities will be to demonstrate ability to devise moderately complex benchmarking metrics to assess system performance, demonstrate an intermediate understanding of the clinical or business operations functions, pay attention to detail in data gathering, specifications development, and documentation and record keeping, and demonstrate an intermediate degree of analytical skill while working under limited supervision in support of team initiatives.
Education- Baccalaureate degree or health‑related field with educational courses preferred.
- Professional certification(s) and/or related experience beyond minimum training experience qualifications may substitute for formal education requirement on a two‑years‑experience‑for‑one‑year education basis.
- Registered Nurse or Pharmacist license preferred for clinical analyst applications.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- One‑year operational experience in a clinical or healthcare business operations setting or one year experience in Information Technology.
- One‑year Epic analyst experience.
- Moderate understanding of the workflows in clinical or healthcare business operations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent use of Microsoft Office applications – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, One Note, etc.
- Strong organizational skills for managing multiple priorities; leads effective meetings and tracks decisions/projects.
- Demonstrates intermediate knowledge of computer systems, applications, and interfaces.
- Demonstrates ability to gather appropriate data, devise, and design systems to meet complex solutions to user needs with limited TS support.
- Demonstrates ability to devise moderately complex benchmarking metrics to assess system performance.
- Demonstrates understanding of the clinical and business operations functions.
- Provides application expertise to facilitate discussions and decisions.
- Provides Tier 1‑3 support to end users.
- Escalates issues and risks to project leadership and identifies research steps taken before asking for guidance.
- Experience with implementing clinical and/or healthcare business information systems in a large‑scale, complex healthcare organization.
- Epic certification in the module(s) being represented.
- Knowledge of the current healthcare environment required.
- Experience developing business and/or clinical workflows related to the assigned application module.
- Required to complete and pass certification in assigned Epic application module(s) within 120 days of employment.
- Employee has knowledge and understanding of patient and workforce safety as it relates to job duties.
- Demonstrates competency in the delivery of care and applies the knowledge to meet age‑specific needs if applicable.
