What will you be doing?We are looking for Social Workers who are passionate about ensuring people have choice and control over their own lives and focus on the person, their strengths and networks. You will work with adults over 18 who have a range of needs, including physical health, brain injuries, mental health, and autism.
- Carry out Care Act assessments and write support plans for those in need of services.
- Conduct safeguarding enquiries and complete risk assessments using appropriate tools and techniques.
- Manage your caseload, participate in the duty rota, support people to achieve good outcomes, and adhere to the council’s policies and procedures.
If you are passionate about adult social care, have a social work qualification or equivalent and are registered with Social Work England, we would love to hear from you. We look for proactive, innovative individuals who can problem‑solve creatively, foster the strengths of others, and work well in a fast‑paced environment. Strong communication skills are essential, as you will collaborate with community groups, voluntary sector partners, and other health and social care providers.
HoursOur standard hours are 9am‑5pm, with the option for flexible working. A car owner is required.
Career development and training opportunitiesAs a Social Worker with West Northamptonshire Council, you will receive a supportive induction and shadowing period. We offer training and development opportunities for those who want to progress or specialise – for example, AMHP training (for those 2 years post‑qualified). We will pay for your Social Work England registration, and all Social Workers receive a paid subscription to Community Care Inform.

This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and therefore subject to an enhanced DBS certificate. It is also a regulated activity and will be subject to a Children and Adults Barred List check.
