Partner Electronics is an electronics and embedded firmware design services consultancy, that develops products, components, modules or systems for our clients. We provide businesses with access to an established, dependable and professional engineering team, that delivers prompt and effective benefits. We are seeking a senior operational leader (reporting to the Managing Director) to take ownership of day-to-day business operations, with a clearly defined pathway to leading the business and allowing the founder to take up a predominantly technical role.

The role is designed for an experienced individual who can initially focus on operational control and business infrastructure, before assuming broader leadership of the company as confidence and trust are established. This is a hands on, dynamic and strategic role in which you will work closely with the Founder/Managing Director to develop this well-established business and to further align it to the future.

The successful applicant will be based in our Silverstone office, located in the beautiful countryside of Northamptonshire – a region with a rich heritage in cutting‑edge technology, from motor sport to telecommunications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Overall responsibility for the effective day‑to‑day management of the business, ensuring operational, financial, and organisational performance.
  • Provide clear operational and financial insight to inform strategy, planning, and decision‑making.
  • Define, own, and report KPIs to drive performance, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Work closely with the Managing Director to ensure technical projects are delivered on time, to quality, and profitably.
  • Act as a senior representative of the business with internal and external stakeholders, including customers, suppliers, and partners.
  • Lead day‑to‑day operations including scheduling, workflow management, and resource coordination.
  • Own the finance function, including budgeting, cashflow management, forecasting, cost control, and management reporting; liaise with external accountants as required.
  • Own the relationship with external HR providers, ensuring compliance with employment legislation and contractual obligations.
  • Lead recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and people development.
  • Own facilities, supplier management, compliance, and health & safety.
  • Own and evolve core business systems, processes, and governance frameworks, including Quality Management Systems (QMS), to support scalability, compliance, and continuous improvement.
  • Deputise for the Managing Director as required
Requirements
  • Significant senior level experience with a delivery‑focused SME, accustomed to managing a broad range of technically complex customer projects with varying commercial and economic profiles.
  • Track record of engaging and leading a team of professional business employees.
  • Demonstrable track record of successful project and operational delivery, team leadership, and effective collaboration with business leaders.
  • Strong understanding of business finance, including project‑based financial reporting, forecasting, cost control, and performance metrics.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to be based within a reasonable commuting distance (approximately 45 minutes) of Silverstone.
Personal Attributes
  • Highly organised, pragmatic, and comfortable owning a broad and varied range of responsibilities in a growing business.
  • Clear, confident communicator, able to work effectively with a technically led founder and translate between technical and commercial priorities.
  • Credible and assured, with the ability to influence through confident communication and rationale across the business.
  • Proactive and delivery‑focused, with strong situational awareness of business needs, priorities, and deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to listen, challenge constructively, and incorporate feedback.
  • Disciplined in task and time management, able to prioritise effectively in a fast‑moving environment.
