We’re looking for a Planned Mechanical Craftsperson to join South West Water in the South West of England. As part of our wastewater operations you’ll keep mechanical assets running, performing maintenance, repairs and preventative work on pumps, gearboxes and other treatment machinery.

What you will be doing
  • Carry out planned maintenance and repairs on mechanical equipment across wastewater treatment sites.
  • Work on pumps, gearboxes and specialist process machinery; undertake large plant repairs and fabrication tasks.
  • Apply first‑level maintenance and develop new skills, including electrical disconnections and working in explosive atmospheres.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines in a mobile team.
  • Ensure safety at all times, including confined space and working‑at‑height protocols.
  • Participate in standby/call‑out rota.
What we are looking for
  • A completed apprenticeship in a relevant technical discipline.
  • A full understanding of related RAMS to deliver an effective and safe maintenance regime.
  • Experience of working with wastewater treatment processes is desirable.
  • Ability to fault‑find and repair large pieces of mechanical equipment.
  • A full UK driving licence is required.
  • Comp Ex 11.
  • Welding or fabrication experience.
