Title:

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Education. Special Education endorsement preferred. Ability to obtain Wyoming Teaching Certification. Must be a minimum of 21 years of age and have the ability to lift 50 pounds. Must be capable of obtaining and maintaining intermediate certification in the Mandt Systemâ of nonphysical and physical intervention with aggressive youth.

Job Summary:

Develop and maintain curriculum to specific area of expertise to enable them to satisfactorily teach emotionally disturbed children. Utilize the Psycho-Educational Model.

Resident and staff privacy and confidentiality is protected at all times. Minimum necessary access to resident and staff records and information is assigned based on the job duties and responsibilities outlined below.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

v

Certifications:

Ø Acquire and maintain Wyoming Substitute Teaching certification by taking the required number of PTSB credit hours.

Ø Will successfully complete intermediate Mandt Training and will be annually re-certified.

Ø Will successfully complete initial Medication Training and will be annually re-certified.

Ø Will attend all required meetings and complete satisfactorily all training as

scheduled to meet standards for on-going education annually.

v Behavior Management:

1. Supervise students during class and outside classroom when appropriate.

2. Using the Psycho-Educational Model, builds a positive, caring, professional relationship with the residents.

3. Ensures that all residents are treated with dignity and respect at all times, are treated age appropriately at all times, and their rights are not violated.

v Classroom Management:

Ø Monitor courses of study based upon individual resident's ability and educational goals established in treatment plans. (lesson plans)

Ø Maintains and monitors academic and behavioral progress of students in each class period. (gradebook, consult)

Ø Provide appropriate and effective lesson plans for substitute teachers.

Ø Provide direct instruction for assigned classes or segments of classes as needed.

Ø Inventories all teaching materials and equipment and monitors upkeep.

Ø Maintains an up-to-date gradebook on a weekly basis.

Ø Demonstrate a willingness to work with and understand the cultural differences within the resident and staff populations.

Ø Role model in a professional manner, appropriate dress, respect, honesty and behavior at all times to the residents and co-workers.

Ø Provides direction and supervision of any educational assistant assigned to their own classroom.

v Documentation:

Ø Writes clear, concise and descriptive reports, including, but not limited to STI's, Reports of Contact, Incident Reports, in the predetermined time frame allowed.

Ø Provide appropriate feedback on the academic and behavioral progress of each student. (consult)

Ø Assists with writing academic and behavioral goals for students with IEP's.

Ø Monitors student IEP's and ILP's on a quarterly basis.

v Interdepartmental assistance:

Ø Cooperates with other members of St. Joseph's various treatment teams to design and adjust treatment programs for residents.

Ø Attends all meetings, workshops and planning sessions as directed.

Ø Ensures the mission of St. Joseph's, including the spiritual formation of residents, is an integral part of the healing process.

v Miscellaneous

Ø Performs other duties as assigned.
