Inspector: AOI

Overview

Inspector: AOI (weekend shift Fri - Sun 6am - 6pm). This position is full time.

Torrington, CT, US.

This position is open due to the start up of a weekend shift. Shift hours:
Fri - Sun 6 am - 6 pm. Work 36 hours, paid for 40.

• Review AOI inspection for accurate, consistent detection of SMT paste, component placement and solder joint defects.
• Load programs per documentation.
• Using magnification aids and stereo-microscopes, inspect populated printed circuit boards and identify component misplacement and solder defects to IPC-A-610 standards.
• Recognize problems in the operation process or with components and communicate those problems to machine operator for immediate correction.
• Actively participates in quality initiatives by participating in problem solving, process improvements and performance measurements.
• Understand and follow company and/or manufacturing guidelines/procedures.
• Ensure product quality as defined by internal and external customers, work instructions, specifications and procedures.
• Follow established safety rules and 6S.
• Conduct in-process and final inspections on PCB assemblies, sub-assemblies, and finished products.
• Ensure product conforms to work instructions, IPC or J-STD standards, and internal quality/workmanship standards.
• Identify and segregate nonconforming materials.
• Complete daily inspection report denoting acceptance and/or rejection rate of all items in accordance with standards defined within the job traveler.
• Support supervisors and/or operators in the resolution of quality problems.

• Good eyesight and hand coordination.
• Ability to troubleshoot and correct mechanical problems.
• Basic component identification skills.
• Ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision.
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to read and understand assembly documentation and all inspection criteria.

• High school diploma or GED.
• Previous soldering experience or training.
• J-Std or IPC-A-610 certification required, or successful completion of certification program per an agreed-upon timeline.

Work involves lifting of materials and product up to 30 pounds. Standing for up to 8 hours a day.
