The Vice President, Controller oversees all accounting and financial reporting functions of the Bank, ensuring accuracy, compliance and operational excellence. This role leads the Accounting team, maintains strong internal controls and GAAP compliance and ensures the Bank meets all regulatory reporting requirements. The Controller provides reliable financial information to support decision‑making, regulatory reviews and strategic planning.
Primary Responsibilities- Leadership & Team Development – Lead, mentor and develop accounting staff to ensure strong performance and professional growth.
- Oversee daily accounting operations, including the general ledger, accounts payable, investment accounting and fixed assets.
- Promote a culture of accuracy, accountability and continuous improvement.
- Accounting Operations & Financial Reporting – Direct the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and internal management reports; ensure compliance with US GAAP, Bank policies, regulatory standards and internal controls; oversee month‑end and year‑end close processes and support management and Board reporting; assist with budgeting, tax estimates and annual tax provisions.
- Regulatory Reporting & Compliance – Oversee timely and accurate completion of the quarterly Call Report and related regulatory filings; monitor regulatory changes and ensure accounting practices and internal controls remain compliant; support documentation, design, implementation and testing of internal controls.
- Audit, Examination & Risk Management – Serve as the primary liaison for external audits and regulatory examinations; maintain strong internal controls across all accounting processes; oversee business continuity planning for the accounting department.
- Treasury, ALCO & Additional Responsibilities – Support ALM modeling and reporting and participate as a member of ALCO; manage the corporate credit card program and related policy compliance; serve as administrator for assigned accounting or finance systems; lead or support special projects as assigned by the Senior Vice President, Finance.
- 5–7 years financial institution experience with strong knowledge of state and federal banking regulations and regulatory reporting.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field required; CPA or master’s degree preferred.
- Expertise in US GAAP, including standards applicable to financial institutions.
- Proven leadership skills with experience developing and motivating teams.
- Ability to perform effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.
- Proficiency with accounting/finance systems, Microsoft Excel and PC‑based applications.
