Overview
As an HVAC Building Engineer, you will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of HVAC and related building systems in commercial facilities. You’ll ensure systems run efficiently, safely, and in compliance with codes and client expectations.
Responsibilities- Install, service, maintain,
repair HVAC and refrigeration systems
, including controls, gauges, and calibrations. - Inspect HVAC equipment and systems to ensure proper operation, safety, and compliance with codes/regulations.
- Troubleshoot system failures and implement corrective actions or modifications.
- Perform preventive maintenance on HVAC and building mechanical systems.
- Monitor and maintain energy management systems for efficient operation.
- Conduct building systems inspections, including fire alarms, plumbing, and controls
. - Respond to emergency repair needs as required.
- Maintain clean, safe work areas and adhere to safety policies.
- Document maintenance and repair work using work order systems or CMMS.
- High School Diploma, GED, or trade school diploma (or equivalent experience).
- 4–5+ years of HVAC/building systems experience in commercial settings.
- EPA Universal CFC certification preferred (especially for refrigeration work).
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and CMMS/work order systems
. - Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Physical ability to perform duties including lifting up to ~50 lbs, climbing, and standing for extended periods.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Preventive and corrective maintenance planning.
- Knowledge of HVAC, refrigeration, energy management, and control systems.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a facilities team.
- Awareness of safety procedures and building code compliance.
- Healthcare environment.
- Evening shift (2 pm – 11 pm)
- On-call or emergency response duties may be required occasionally.
