Western Veterinary Group, voted “South Bay’s Best,” is an AAHA-accredited, privately owned companion animal practice in Torrance, CA. We are seeking an experienced Medical Director (DVM) to provide clinical leadership while continuing to practice high-quality, compassionate veterinary medicine.

This role is ideal for a veterinarian who enjoys mentoring colleagues, setting medical standards, and collaborating with leadership—without stepping away from patient care. Our hospital is fully supported by experienced RVTs, assistants, and a dedicated management team, allowing doctors to focus on medicine and leadership rather than logistics.
Position Highlights:
- Leadership-level clinical role with ongoing patient care
- Collaborative partnership with hospital management
- Strong support staff and efficient scheduling
- Emphasis on quality medicine, mentorship, and work-life balance
Medical Director Responsibilities:
- Upholding and advancing hospital medical standards and protocols
- Mentoring and supporting associate veterinarians
- Promoting consistent, high-quality patient care and client communication
- Collaborating with management on workflow efficiency and medical operations
- Participating in doctor meetings, case reviews, and protocol discussions
- Fostering a positive, respectful, and collaborative medical culture
Schedule & Support:
- 30–60 minute appointment slots
- Dedicated RVT/Technician assigned daily
- Additional float and hospitalization RVT/Technicians scheduled each day
- Dedicated Pharmacy Assistant scheduled daily
- Blocked lunch breaks and scheduled client call-back time
- Last appointment begins 1 hour before end of shift
Qualifications:
- DVM required (California license or ability to obtain)
- 5+ years of small animal clinical experience preferred
- Prior leadership, mentorship, or supervisory experience strongly preferred
- Strong communication and team collaboration skills
- Base salary: $200,000 – $225,000 annually
, plus production (Pro-Sal)
